Our Story

Some of the highlights of our journey to building a resource center for our houseless community in Deming.

  • Deming Silver Linings formed in November 2016 when a group of concerned citizens gathered to address the issues of homelessness in Deming and Luna County.

  • In May 2017 we gained our 501(c)3 status.

  • At the same time, we began a twice weekly (Wed and Sat) distribution of non-perishable food and beverages, personal care items, and gently used clothing.

  • We have a 24-hour accessible port-a-john.

  • We also provide a set of clean clothes, access to an indoor shower, and laundry that they can access during our hours of operation.

  • We now serve a hot mid-day meals on Mondays thru Thursdays.

  • The biggest need is still safe and sustainable housing.

  • We support the "Housing First" model which advocates providing a safe and personal space for homeless persons first, then providing needed services and counseling.
