Our Story

-
Silver Lining began in November 2016 when a group of concerned citizens came together to address homelessness in Deming and Luna County.
-
In May 2017, we proudly achieved our 501(c)(3) nonprofit status, enabling us to expand our efforts.
-
From the start, we have provided twice-weekly distributions of non-perishable food, beverages, personal care items, and gently used clothing every Wednesday and Saturday.
-
To support basic needs, we maintain a 24-hour accessible port-a-john and offer clean clothing, indoor showers, and laundry facilities during our hours of operation.
-
Our services have grown to include hot mid-day meals served Monday through Friday, offering nourishment and community connection.
-
While our programs continue to grow, the greatest ongoing need remains safe and sustainable housing.
-
We fully support the "Housing First" model — providing safe, personal shelter as the foundation for stability, followed by access to supportive services and counseling.
